Barbara OHara has been
baking for years, often treating friends and colleagues to the delicious
products of her labour.
In 1997 she began designing and baking pastries and wedding cakes in a church basement. As word spread and demand grew, she knew she needed to move to larger space. In 2000, Barbara opened the doors of her upscale, 100% scratch-made pastry shop with a take-away dessert counter, a store featuring special gifts for any occasion, and event rentals for dinner parties to weddings to help make any event special. Dessert Sinsations has a unique selection of rental items to help their clients create an exquisite party.
What began as a one-woman show has grown to include four full-time staff with additional hands added during peak seasons.
Barb and her team are committed to exceeding customer expectations with their tried and true favourites and exceptional, one-of-a-kind creations. Her large and loyal client base is not confined to Winnipeg her works have been shipped across the country and throughout North America.
In addition to running a thriving business, Barb is also a wife and mother to young daughters who are learning first-hand about business. Possibly the next generation of entrepreneurs, they have already begun helping out in the shop.
