Carol's professional and volunteer experiences are rich and varied. She was the CEO of the YWCA in Thompson and was recognized with the Cleta Herman Award for personal commitment and leadership within the YWCA movement across Canada in 2001. She has also held many volunteer positions within the Canadian Cancer Society, at local, provincial, and national levels, serving as Provincial President from1995-97, and National President from 2002-04.
In the autumn of 2004, Carol Hiscock left Thompson, Manitoba, her home for 30-years, to assume the position of Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Manitoba Division, based in Winnipeg.
Prior to her relocation, several Northern Manitoba non-profit organizations benefited from Carol’s insight, commitment and enthusiasm. She was Northern Regional Coordinator for the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities; Executive Director of a Community Health Centre in Leaf Rapids; and Coordinator of a federally-funded women’s health education project. She also served as President of the Thompson Community Foundation, and worked with a number of other community organizations, including the Thompson Crisis Centre, Thompson Business and Professional Women’s Club, and the Addictions Foundation-Northern Region Advisory Board.
Currently, Carol is a member of the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health Advisory Board, and a member of the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Alliance Board of Directors.
